Let me tell you a story. My story.
A few years ago, a crazy idea popped into my head—one of those ideas that everyone says, “It can’t be done!” But isn’t that how all dreams start? As a wild thought you just can’t shake off. I wanted to create a place filled with light, shadows, and memories. A shop unlike any other, full of my own creations, bathed in white and blue. And just like that, Shadows of Greece was born.
But nothing about this journey was easy. I spent countless hours designing, experimenting, creating—and yes, failing too! And after I figured out the “what” and the “how,” I faced one big obstacle: funding. That’s when I learned about “The People’s Trust”, a privately funded non-profit organization that supports new and existing small businesses across all industries by providing microfinance of up to €15,000 and free business development services.
After endless hours of planning, drafting, and refining my business model, I submitted my application. And just a few days later, I got the phone call that changed everything: “Congratulations! Your business plan has been approved!” I still remember jumping for joy right there on Dyrrachiou Street… And that’s how Shadows of Greece began to take shape.
Today, I welcome you to my little world—a small business that dares to be different.
You won’t find us in a picturesque alley of Plaka or a fancy corner of Mykonos. We don’t sell mass-produced souvenirs, and no—it’s not just for tourists. Here, everything is handmade. Every creation tells a story. Every piece holds a memory. Shadows of Greece is filled with white passion, golden imagination, and blue love—colors that capture the heart and soul of Greece.
At the core of my small business are the 3D shadow boxes. Designed and crafted entirely by me, using materials sourced from Greek suppliers, these illuminated 3D frames are like a window to Greece. With over 120 cities, landmarks, and monuments showcased in these designs, my goal is to bring a touch of Greece’s magic and light into your home.
But that’s not all you’ll find here. There are also acrylic and wooden keychains with cheeky Greek phrases to brighten your day, hand-painted wooden plaques with designs inspired by Greek culture using heat-transfer vinyl, and even seasonal treasures—like Christmas ornaments, Easter candles, and heart-shaped keepsakes with playful messages. And of course, there are our Limited Edition wax melts, “Meltemi Blues,” scented with jasmine, and our signature scrunchies embroidered with Greek words like Glykia (Sweetheart), Belas (Trouble), and Koritsaros (Gorgeous Girl), all handmade from white, blue, and gold satin fabric.
And if you’re wondering, “Why Sepolia? Why not a more ‘touristy’ area of Athens?”
Because beauty isn’t always where you expect to find it. Sepolia is full of soul, history, and authenticity. Let’s not forget—it’s where Giannis Antetokounmpo started his journey before reaching the top of the world. If he could begin here and go that far, why shouldn’t a different kind of journey—one that brings the memories of Greece to life—start here too?
